VISITORS
We had two local guests today. Amanda Gonzales joined us for the second time, and this was Rebekah Nussbaum’s first visit. Amanda has expressed interest in becoming a member of our club. We hope Rebekah will too.
Additionally, Dzifa Sogbe-Adranyi, a Rotary International member from Ghana, attended our meeting. She and Jon exchanged club banners as is a Rotary tradition.

FLAG PROGRAM UPDATE
Our flag program is still going strong. We placed 2,043 flags out for the last distribution. New enrollment is closed until next year. The flag program is our primary revenue producer for the club. 100% of the money we bring in (minus flag program expenses) goes to the non-profit organizations we support in Prosper.
VETERANS DAY RUN
Our Veterans Day Run event is now officially a 10K run rather than a 5K. Prosper Mayor David Bristol made the announcement at today’s meeting. As you may know, the net proceeds from the event are donated to our Veterans Memorial Fund.

VETERANS MEMORIAL UPDATE
As of this week, we have received pledges in excess of $304K. We have received actual money-in-the-bank payments in excess of $234K. Our original estimate to build the memorial was about $500K (pre-covid). We’ll likely get an update estimate soon, and start construction when we get closer to the goal.

SPEAKER
Today’s speak was US Congressman Keith Self. Congressman Self gave us an interesting view of things going on that concern us all. He then went on to lead a Q&A session for the group. I think we are fortunate to have Congressman Self representing us in Washington.
Three members of the Congressman’s staff accompanied him today: Michelle Bishop (District Director), Hillary Parkinson (Chief of Staff), and Steve Haynes (Security).
