Prosper Rotary Club Meeting of 01/26/2023

GUESTS
We were blessed to have several visitors join us Thursday. Take a look at the photos to see their smiling faces. https://www.flickr.com/photos/mabpictures/albums

TWO NEW MEMBERS
Please join me in welcoming our two new members: Victoria Norton (left) and Jessica Mills. We look forward to their future participation with the club.

SPEAKER
The Town of Prosper Mayor David Bristol shared his State of the Community address with our club. It was an interesting picture of the Town’s current and future outlook. Our club extends our sincere appreciation to Mayor Bristol for sharing his time and vision with us.

FUTURE SPEAKERS LIST
GROUP PHOTO TO BE TAKEN
We will take a group photo of our club at our next meeting February 2nd.  We hope to have as many members as possible in the photo, so please try to be there! The speaker that day is our own Dr. Holly Ferguson, Prosper ISD Superintendent of Schools. Please show up and stay until we take the photo.

HELP NEEDED
Have you ever wanted to share our club web page URL with an interested party but struggled to do so? Well, we might have a tool to help with that. We plan to provide each of us with a QR code that we can easily access on our cell phones. We’ll simply touch a widget and the QR code will pop open for the interested party to scan/take a photo of. The code will link them directly to our web page.
Now having said that, anyone know how to actually create a sharable widget to accomplish that. I need help. I’m too old and technically challenged to achieve it, but I do know how to ask for help. Help! Please contact Mark Bishop if you can be a resource for this task. My cell number is 972-369-9080. Thanks in Advance.

SERVICE PROJECTS
We will have a flag build day on the same day as street clean up, Saturday February 4, 8-10am.

We'll have 5-6 students there, and we can work toward our first distribution.  On that day we'll pull flags and apply stickers to the poles.  We should also have a different station to drill existing poles that have old methods.

If the weather is good and we get on a roll then we might go past 10:00AM.  If the weather is cold we won’t stay long, and if it's wet we won't meet.

Bring:
  1. a pair of side cutters / snips capable of cutting zip ties
  2. a ¼” nut driver with a few sockets / ¼” and 5/16” are likely needed. A cordless drill to drive ‘em makes it easier.
  3. water – stay hydrated
  4. a hat and ear covering if it’s cold
  5. sun glasses - maybe
  6. work gloves
The work will be performed at our storage lockers in Prosper. Blue Star Storage, 1140 Prosper Trail, Prosper 75078. It’s located on the SW corner of Prosper Trail and Preston Road. Our lockers (148, 152, 153, 154) are along the back drive.
